This hat look awesome. Thank you for sharing it. I really want to make one for my nearly 3 years old daughter. I would like to ask you about the approximately size inches or cm.

I too would like to know the size of the rectangle as I plan to make this for my very small, 5 year old cousin. Cant get the yarn you specify.

Hi Cherie! I know some people on instagram have used two strands of worsted weight yarn held together and the same size hook called for in the pattern L 8.

That should work! Very cute! I am making these for my daughter and nieces! What is the measurement from brim to top of hat.? Mine looks a little tall.

Thanks so much. Hi Sherri! My finished hat is about 9 inches or 24 cm from brim to top. Hi Persialou. I made your slouchy cat ear last night.

My friends went crazy over it, and want to pay me to make a few. Do you mind if I sell a few hats from your free pattern?

Love my hat! Thanks for your time! Hi Gabi! If you end up selling online, I appreciate a link back to the pattern. Thank you so much, this is such an adorable pattern.

The Isaac Mizrahi yarn is so thin compared to the chunky! I also think the single crochet down one side made one of the cat ears a little chunky compared to the other.

I want to try slip stitching it to see what happens. Also maybe two strands of yarn. So many options. Thanks, Joan!

I think your bear hat is cute! Thanks for tagging me. Thank you!! Do you think with two strands of yarn worked together and a size K hook instead of L it would be the right size??

That should work. The L hook might even still work. I see there is no gauge inside the pattern and I would like to make the hat with a thinner yarn, can you share the finished sizes lenght and width with us?

Thanks in advance!!! I made it! My daughter is going to love it! Lovely, I made one for my son! Thank you for share.

I have posted this project in my Craftsy account and link back to your great pattern! Thank you for the pattern. Do you have different sizes and measurements for smaller children — , and years old?

Thank you. Hi Jane! Hi Alexa — Not yet! But I am working on getting a lot of new videos up in the next month or so. Hi Melinda! You are going to be adding a brim onto the open end of the hat, so you need to add a new piece of yarn onto the brim.

Just draw a loop of a new piece of yarn up through the edge of the hat near the seam and start working your single crochet stitches.

Hi Alexis! Hi Brook! Yes I will add a gauge for you. But just as a general guide, you want your starting chain to be about as long as you want your hat to be tall minus about an inch.

Hope that makes sense! However I am stuck on the ear part. How did you sew or stitch them to get to yarn to cinch to create them? Hi Sharon!

Just thread your needle with yarn, and stitch through the corner just like you were sewing with a regular needle and thread.

Weave the needle in and out of the hat going through both layers. Tie double knots at both ends of the yarn on the edges of the and weave in the ends.

I hop that helps! It went thick thin thick thin, so I was having trouble with the foundation single crochet. Any suggestions? Also, I got this yarn because it was very soft and the metallic in it was very soft to the touch.

Is the yarn you chose the same? She says it is too itchy. I may have to make it plain black, if the metallic in the yarn is scratchy.

Very very cute pattern, thank you! Hi Melissa! The yarn I used was very consistent in thickness, so you may have ended up with a different yarn.

That said, you can use any yarn of the same thickness. No metallics required! Happy Crocheting! This looks lots of fun — I work at a private girls school in the boarding house and I think some of our girls will love to make this for our coming winter.

Thanks so much for posting it. Thanks so much for letting me know. That is the worst. I removed the link from your comment to avoid giving them any traffic.

Thanks again! I just attempted to make this hat from your pattern. Its cute, but mine didnt turn out anywhere near as perfect as yours. Thanks for sharing the pattern.

Hi Skylar! I would give it another shot — maybe try some different yarn? Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment. Hey there!

I need to add a child size version of the pattern. Basically you want the row to be as long as you want the finished hat to be tall.

Thank you for all of the work that went into providing this pattern, and for free! Thanks for the cool pattern!! Thank you for such clear and easy to understand instructions!!

And I love the Foundation single crochet! I have never tried that before but have always hated fighting with going back through the chain for that first row.

Thanks sooo much!! I enjoyed your tutorials, also. Basically, you want your row to be as long as you want your hat to be tall.

Other than that it should be about the same I will work on a more detailed pattern for you! I too would like to know the number of chains to start and the multiple to make shorter or longer.

This is common with professional crochet pattern instructions. I will probably make up my own instructins. But thought I would let you know for future patterns.

Super cute hat, though! Hi Sarah, if you read all of the instructions for row 1, you will see that it does give you the number of stitches to start.

I had so many people using different yarns, that I provided a few examples of how it may change with different yarns and hooks.

I have not included a multiple because any number of stitches can work. The hat just uses a simple half double crochet stitch instead of a more complicated stitch pattern that requires a specific multiple.

Question: in the earlier parts of the process when you chain two and turn to do the HDC do you skip the first stitch because you did the chain 2?

Hey thanks for this. I have never been able to figure out crochet but I can knit with knitting needles. I easily converted this to regular knitting and have made two so far.

Before finding your post I saw all these terribly complicated ways to make hats with ears…then I read yours and had that aha moment. Thank you for such a cute and easy pattern!

Have you made your hat with 5 bulky yarn and, if so, what size hook did you use or would you suggest? Hello Beverly! The pattern is pretty simple to adapt.

You basically want to end up with a rectangle that is about an inch shorter than the height that you want the finished hat to be the inch shorter is to leave some space for the brim.

Then the rectangle needs to be as long as you need it to wrap around your head remember that it will stretch! So work as many stitches in your first row as you need to get the right height for your hat, and then work as many rows as you need to for it to wrap around your head.

Thanks, Alexis! After a few false starts! I love it! The hat shown on Pinterest shows a hat with a cable pattern. Are the directions for that on your site?

Maybe post the link so I can see what you see? What a cute hat! Thanks for your very helpful and easy to follow video.

Your Youtube video helped so much, thanks! This is soooo adorable. Did you ever think a Bunch of nasty women would use your Hat Pattern and March for the power of Pussy?

My daughter inlaw asked me if I would be offended if she gave it to good will because of what it now represents. I told her do what she wanted since i am not a nasty woman,.

I am making this for my Chinese work colleague for her birthday. I have joined flat black yarn with a sparkly mohair and it looks great.

I thought just black would get lost in her hair color!!! I looked at lots of pussyhat patterns to make one for solidarity with the Womens March and yours was the best I found.

It was so easy to follow, I whipped it up in one morning and it looked perfect. My sister loved it so much I made one for her too. Great pattern.

I love this — and I might also add that what I noticed first, was your lovely nail art? I just picked up crochet again, after putting it down as a kid.

Thanks for the adjustment advice, BTW!! Should I be tightening up my stitches as I work across, or keeping them loose but even? I want to make sure I have the right stretch!

Hi Renee! If your row is a bit short, just add a few more stitches to get the right length you want it about as long as you want your final hat to be tall minus an inch or so for the brim , and then you may need to add more rows to get it long enough to wrap around your head.

I keep getting a weird bunch in between the ears when I try to put the hat on. Ive tried to re do them several times and it seems like no matter what size I make them they do the same thing.

Do you have any suggestions? I am a beginner at crochet, and saw your slouch cat hat. Will have to see if I can do a ion for my fur!

Keep up the great work! Hey, I thought I would mention that I found the yarn for this at Michaels still on sale. I know that your post says that it is discontinued.

Thought I would let you know. Hi Sheena! I think possibly someone pinned an image from an ad or something. Thanks for sharing this awesome pattern!

Hi Jennifer!

Before fans get to see the highly-anticipated reunion, White gave ESSENCE never-before-seen images of the cast filming and shed light on what it felt like to be back with her girls again.

Persia White: To have us all together, that was the most incredible, strange and nostalgic feeling, but then it also felt like home.

Tracee told us in an interview recently that she never got booked on the late night shows during her run as Joan Clayton, but Girlfriends was such an iconic show for us.

So it just seems crazy. Can you reflect on that? It was so clear. And not just that: we were women so we had a double whammy. Did you all reach out to [creator, writer and executive producer] Mara Brock Akil during the reunion last month?

Was she at all involved? This was a totally separate thing, but we have been in touch with Mara. She has continually tried to get a Girlfriends movie made for the longest time, and she ran into a bunch of dead ends on that.

It just became very difficult, but she was open to it. Was there a sense that she was fully on board?

Was there any tension on set? It was so good. And I love Jill. So I felt really bad not having her there [in the past]. Love this hat, so making one!

Please share the cut file for your shirt, absolutely have to have one!! Hi Fiona! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting.

This, and you, are the cutest. Approximately how much yardage or skeins of chunky yarn did you use up to make this hat? Overall very cute and very generous of you to share this pattern to the public!

I plan to make mine soon so thank you very much. Hi Chelses! This hat is adorable! I am in the process of making it right now, actually!

Could you clarify a bit? Hi Rita! I basically just joined the yarn to one side of the hat a couple inches down from the corner using a double knot.

Then I worked a running stitch worked my yarn needle in and out through both sides of the hat on a diagonal across the corner to a point about an inch to the side of the middle point of the top of the hat.

I pulled on the yarn a bit here to tighten the stitches and make the ear shape more defined. Then I tied off the yarn with a double knot. Finally, just weave your ends into the hat.

I hope that helps! I may try to get a video put together for the pattern soon. Good luck! Thank you, Alexis! This clarification really helped.

Thanks so much for your comment! I am new to the whole world of video, but I will do my best. Thank you again! This hat look awesome. Thank you for sharing it.
